Flashback Friday to 1888

In 1888, 50 women recognized that it was time for a not-for-profit facility dedicated to local residents’ wellbeing. Since it opened in 1891, Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s doors have never closed. 126 years later, Cottage Health System stands as the single not-for-profit provider of acute hospital care in the greater Santa Barbara region.
