Cal Poly Dance Marathon Hosts Inaugural Miracle Week

Written by Sophia O’Keefe, Cal Poly Dance Marathon

This week, Cal Poly Dance Marathon put on its first Miracle Week, raising $9,029 towards their overall goal of $62,000 for the patients and families at Cottage Children’s Medical Center in Santa Barbara. CPDM hosted Miracle Week to build enthusiasm prior to their second annual Dance Marathon event on February 9.

Miracle week consisted of 4 days, in which each had a different goal/theme/purpose.

Day 1, Tuesday, had a theme of “Inspiration”.  The day was all about educating Cal Poly students about what CPDM is and what they stand for.  This included talking about the overall cause, sharing individual stories of children at Cottage, telling people why they should join the movement, and more.

Day 2, Wednesday, was all about registration. They showed students how they can register and encouraged them to do so.  Throughout the week, 204 more dancers were registered, getting CPDM closer to its registration goal of 800.
