Bringing toys and joy to CCMC this holiday season

From former patients, to university student groups, to kindhearted individuals, to businesses that set out toy collection boxes– when it came time to bring joy to kids in the hospital, the community pitched in to make Cottage Children’s Medical Center’s annual Holiday Toy Drive an overwhelming success.

The outpouring of goodwill and generosity was remarkable. Saint Barbara Parish Youth Group continued their support this year by assembling 18 Jared Boxes full of activities for our pediatric patients. Our 2020 CMNH Champion family held their 2nd annual Avon fundraiser and dropped off 80 Finley the Fox plush animals. Another family continued their tradition of driving all the way from Newbury Park to Santa Barbara in order to drop off a significant haul.

Creativity abounded! One man held a “Scrooge party” and asked his guests to bring toys, which he then brought to Cottage. Two little boys held a hot cocoa stand in their front yard each night so they could raise money to buy fun items to donate. There was even a young woman who brought 101 toys that she had collected in lieu of her 21st birthday presents.

Thank you to everyone who participated, and best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!
