Thomas Fire: 132,000 acres, 10% contained

In addition to the flames, air quality is a big concern resulting from the Thomas Fire. Our CMNH corporate partners have been pulling together and Costco has been a site for distribution of free N95 face masks, Miner’s Ace Hardware has been collecting food/blankets/etc. donations and will be delivering them to fire victims, and our Rincon Broadcasting and Lazer radio partners have been providing lots of updates.

  • Thomas Fire details:
    • The fire has consumed 132,000 acres and is currently 10% contained
    • It continues to threaten structures in Ojai, Santa Paula, Ventura, Carpinteria, and Summerland
    • Mandatory and voluntary evacuations have been ordered for parts of Carpinteria, Summerland and the unincorporated areas of Santa Barbara County
    • Winds have calmed a bit and we are expecting light winds in Santa Barbara this weekend
    • Over 2,500 firefighters are on the fire
  • Emergency generators will remain locked in the “on position” at Cottage hospitals until SoCal Edison confirms no more threat of power outages
  • As a reminder, the hospitals have strong air filtration systems that filter out air particulates. Unfortunately we are unable to eliminate the smell of smoke
