Miracle Kid Monday: Bella

At 18 months old, Bella was admitted to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Emergency Department after falling out of her high chair and suffering a brain injury. She has been diagnosed with Glanzmann’s Thrombasthenia, a bleeding disorder, and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a brittle bone disorder, which caused two broken hips and a fractured tibia. Her resiliency and strong support system has helped Bella begin to recover. Today, she receives ongoing care at Cottage’s outpatient Grotenhuis Pediatric Clinics as well as Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital.

Although she has to be careful, Bella is active, playful and happiest when dancing, twirling, making slime and drawing. She wants to be an artist when she grows up.
