Cancer Survivor Faith’s Letter

Faith was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at age 11. Now 14 years old, Faith is cancer free and back to living her life. She even wrote a letter to her 11-year-old self, letting her know everything will be okay:

Dear 11-year-old me,

Imagine you are now 14. Pretty much the same girl just taller. You started high school, are killing it at volleyball and love your friends and family. And, you’re a cancer survivor. It’s not going to always be easy. But three years from now, after a bunch of car trips to Cottage with mom and dad, to see the best nurses and doctors you could ask for, your gorgeous curls will have grown back. And life is going to be, well … life.

Love,
Faith

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Cottage Children’s Medical Center is a Special Care Center for hematology-oncology, as designated by the state of California (meaning, children with this disease can receive comprehensive care at Cottage instead of having to travel outside the region).
